Participating in local and regional Science Fairs is expected by all students involved with gifakiimanaaniwigamig seasonal camps. Students from the Cloquet School, Duluth Schools, Greenway High School, Fond du Lac Ojibway School, and ISD2142 St. Louis County Schools including Tower, NorthWoods (formerly Cook and Orr), North Range (formerly Tower-Soudan and Babbitt-Embarass) and South Ridge (formerly AlBrook, Cotton and Meadowlands) have support by teachers and staff in pursuing areas of interest through scientific study.

During the month of January local schools in the Northeast area including AlBrook, Carlton, Cloquet, Fond du Lac Ojibway, Greenway and Tower School host local Science Fairs for students K-12. Student winners in grades 7- 12 may go on to the Regional competitions held at the University of Minnesota, Duluth competitionions.
